Diana Villwock

Born in Giessen, Germany, Diana Villwock moved to San Diego when she was 8 years old. Her musical career began at age 5 when she started taking classical piano lessons. She continued to study piano in San Diego under Dr. Irena Bendetsky for 15 years, and also started teaching piano at age 16. Her vocal training began while she was in highschool, singing in the Bishop’s Singers, where she had the opportunity to sing John Rutter’s Magnificat at Carnegie Hall, conducted by the composer. At this time she also began taking private vocal training focusing mainly on coloratura soprano literature. In 2007, Diana graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biochemistry. Throughout her time at UCLA, she sang in the UCLA Choral and the UCLA Chamber Singers. Diana then returned to Germany to continue her education, where she earned her Master’s Degree in Biomedicine at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. During her years in Germany, she had the opportunity to sing in the touring Europa Chor, where she was the soprano section leader. Currently, Diana is pursuing her Ph.D. in Biomaterials & Engineering at the University of California, San Diego. Since her return to San Diego, she has been continuing to pursue her vocal training with Dr. Eichorn, and is working on broadening her oratorio and classical repertoire.
