Tim McLellan

Tim McLellan started studying piano at age 4, and started singing at the age of 15. He comes from a musical family His mother sings and plays piano, his father sings and plays cello, his sister sings, various uncles play violin and piano, and his grandfather played trombone in the Salvation Army Band.
In college, Tim sang pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music (voice and conducting) at Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo. He was a member of the first graduating class of music majors there. After graduation, he moved to Seattle to attend the University of Washington, where he received a Master of Music degree with a specialization in choral conducting. He then moved to San Diego, where he is currently a middle school math teacher, while still teaching choir ever year or so. He has also taught high school math and was the music director at Escondido High School for five years.
Growing up, Tim sang in an Assemblies of God church. In San Luis Obispo, he was a member of the First Baptist Church choir there, and then took a position as choir director at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Grover Beach. In Seattle, he sang at University Lutheran Church and then took a position as choir director at Crown Hill United Methodist Church. When he moved to San Diego, he took a position as choir director at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Mira Mesa. He then started singing with the San Diego Master Chorale, also doubling as the Bass Section Leader. He then took the position at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church.
