Sunday School
St. Bart’s Sunday School Kicks off a Happy New Year!
2008 has started off wonderfully for the St. Bart’s Sunday School/Children’s Ministry.
We currently have 45 people on the Children’s Ministry Team and that number is growing all the time with people wanting to be part of the team. We have almost 85 children registered in our Sunday School Program. Our goal in the New Year is to get all children who attend “officially” registered and for our numbers to get over 100.
We have been blessed with over a dozen consistent Sunday School Teachers teaching three year olds through fifth graders. Having the Group Publishing Curriculum has been wonderful, and the addition of Godly Play to the Curriculum has made it that much better. We are thankful for those whom have been trained in the Godly Play techniques to bring this unique program to our children.
Remember the Oatmeal Outreach we did in November?? We just found out that we assembled over 300 packets! Way to go!!! They were taken to the Friend to Friend Clubhouse and distributed to those in need. Thanks, kids and adult helpers!
You may wonder what ever happened with all the decorations the children made at the beginning of December…Well, they were given to a group called Compassionate Cooks who put together boxes full of cookies. The decorations were placed on top of the boxes and then delivered to Interfaith Community Services. Guess what?...The kids have already been asked to do this project again next year!
Thank you to everyone who took part in the Christmas Pageant. We had 52 children participate and 14 adult and youth helpers guiding them along their quest to tell the holy Christmas story to the Congregation. What a thrill it was for all of us to watch the kids engage with one another in such a blessed setting.
We have decided to sponsor a new child through World Vision. Maria Belen Quispe Romero is a five year old girl from Ecuador. She lives with her adoptive family and two brothers. Her family struggles to provide for her daily needs, so we are delighted to be part of her life in the new year and years to come. We will be introducing Maria’s profile this month so they can begin to communicate with her and pray for her to grow healthfully in a safe environment.
You are invited to a Beach Party!!! We WILL have Vacation Bible School (VBS) this Summer! The “Beach Party” Curriculum has been ordered. During this week long adventure, children will learn the basics of surfing, ride the wave of God’s love, and go home with a new Beach-Be Attitude. Having a Beach Be-Attitude means being obedient, kind, forgiving, bold, and believing. Be sure to keep your eyes and ears open for more details.
We are still in the process of starting a MOPS group (Mothers of Preschoolers) at the church. This is an extraordinary undertaking, but something that would be wonderful for all of us and those in the community around us who wish to be part of a spiritual and friendly group of Mothers. If you are interested in taking a lead in this part of the Ministry, please contact us. We need a committee of about five people to get started.
If your child is part of our Sunday School and you have not filled out a Sunday School Registration Form, please be sure to fill one out. These can be found in each classroom with the Sunday School Teacher, in the Church Office or in the entrance of the Education Building.
If you would like to get involved with the St. Bart’s Children’s Ministry in any way, please email Tara Pritchett at tarapritchett@cox.net. We are always happy and eager to have more team members!
