This Saturday, Sofia and I head to Tijuana for a five-night youth mission trip with our diocese. In total, we have seven youth going from the San Diego side, and we are connecting with twice that number of high schoolers from Tijuana, Vida Joven, and Hermosillo. Together, this delegation of cross-border youth will be working to improve a building that will one day serve as a migrant shelter for women and children run by our diocese. At our last meeting, we prayed for connections, friendship, laughter, and protection. We hope that our prayers will lead to lasting bonds among this delegation and that they may continue to do God’s work together in the future. I hope to send you a Rector’s Note from there next week, but while we are away, will you please pray for us?

Holy God, whose glory fills the whole creation, and whose presence we find wherever we go, we pray for the youth delegation of our diocese as they travel to Mexico: Preserve them as they travel; surround them with your loving care; protect them from every danger; fill them with curiosity, love, and respect for those they meet; and bring them in safety to their journey’s end; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
