Introducing Isaiah

It is my delight to inform you that we have another priest intern joining us! The Rev. Isaiah Dau is a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and an employee of RefugeeNet. You may remember Isaiah and Nicodemus from our February ministry fair! Isaiah also joined me at the altar that Sunday.

Father Isaiah is from South Sudan but spent a number of his teen years in a Ugandan refugee camp with his mother and younger siblings, and later, in his 20s, with his wife and two young sons. He was ordained there at age 20 and is now, like many Sudanese refugees, seeking asylum in the United States. He will be officially ordained into The Episcopal Church on May 21 at St. Luke’s.

Bishop Susan has called on us to mentor Isaiah into The Episcopal Church, and I know you will join me in honoring this charge. His internship at St. Bart’s will be Sundays only, from May 1, 2025, through January 1, 2026.

We will be forming a lay committee for Father Isaiah. Please let me know if you would like to join his committee.

Father Isaiah has already been very active in our diocese. He served as a camp counselor at the children’s Salt & Light retreat at Camp Stevens, and he recently led a St. Luke’s youth group trip to Chicago. At St. Bart’s, Isaiah’s learning covenant will include preaching, sacraments (Holy Eucharist), children’s/youth formation, and worship. He will be attending the Gala, and his first Sunday will be the very next day—May 4! Join me in welcoming this wonderful priest to St. Bart’s.
