Monitor Your Joy

This season we have so much to monitor. Our to-do lists, our family dynamics, our blood pressure—to name just a few! We also monitor the news and find it is not good. Tragedy and uncertainty top the headlines. In times like these, we must be extra diligent in caring for ourselves.
Remember the truism that “if you don’t take a break, God will give you one.”Being of service requires service to self. Last Monday, I had a joyful evening playing pool with three of our parishioners. It was a hoot! Everything I have to monitor was set aside for an evening, and I felt refreshed. With Christmas just one week away, I write to remind you to take time for moments of joy—simply enjoy being alive. Just as you may count your calories or your steps, make sure you are getting your joy count in too.
After Christmas Day, let’s keep monitoring our joy. Like billiards? Email me and let’s go play. But I have to warn you, we have some accomplished billiards players at St. Bart’s—the parishioners wearing red in the photo above are SHARKS!
Blessings,
Mother Nina+
