The Whole Church Family

Last weekend, we celebrated the Feast of St. Francis by including our furry family members in worship. Altogether, we served communion to 280 people! It was wonderful to see so many worshippers along with their pawed, hooved, and winged family members. While we all do love St. Francis, I believe this weekend is so special because those normally left at home have a special day just for them, and the whole church family gets to be together.

I love that this weekend precedes the kickoff to our 2027 Stewardship campaign. This year’s slogan—“One Church. One Boat. One River.”—encapsulates how God’s work at St. Bart’s thrives because the whole church family participates. Even better, we all contribute in different ways. We give our time in different ways, our talents in different ways, and our treasure at different levels. (By “treasure” in this context, I don’t mean rummage sale donations but your annual pledge to the church’s operating budget.)

In all these different ways and levels, the whole church family is needed to support a vibrant and growing church. The kickoff of our annual Stewardship campaign is a perfect time to look prayerfully at your life, and how you contribute to the whole here at St. Bart’s. Sometimes a conversation with clergy can be helpful! If you would like that, contact me or Father Jacob.
