Loaves and Fishes
One of my favorite St. Bart’s stories is from the first rummage sale in 2023. When I came to the church a month later and heard of its success, I asked, with great anticipation, “Will we do it again?” Everyone thought not, since hadn’t everyone already cleared out their homes and storage spaces for this one? What would be left to give? Who knew that three rummage sales later, the donations and the volunteers would keep coming—just like the miracles of the loaves and fishes!
The rummage sale is an enormous undertaking, all in support of our Outreach partners. The work involved is year-round and requires so many people. Our truly fearless leaders are Connie Cross, Cheryl Roop, Paula Kriner, and Widney Hawthorne, along with other helpers. And on the sale days, over 60 people volunteered each day, including people from other churches, Poway High, and the Scouts! Many bonds were formed and many laughs shared.
No doubt many shoppers’ prayers were answered when they found just what they needed at our sale. The bake sale and plant sale are also a perennial hit! To all of you who volunteered and/or shopped, thank you for your contributions to the St. Bart’s rummage sale. We raised a new high total of $17,600—another miracle!
