Last Sunday, I preached to you about how we help God make a difference in the world. As an example, I described a video sent to me of a three-year-old being lowered onto a quilt in a crib. It’s not a long video. Someone randomly watching it might not think it is anything out of the ordinary. It’s just simple, everyday stuff.
But in my sermon, I told you the stories behind the video. The story of the quilt. The story of the boy. The story of the caregiver. All in the setting of a Tijuana orphanage. The short video transforms into a testimonial of God’s love and grace! Knowing the stories, it’s actually quite emotional to watch the video. I didn't show it on Sunday. If you like, you may see it here.
As I start my second year with you, I’m able to match more and more stories with faces. Nearly always, I’m fascinated at what I learn! I wonder, if others knew your stories, would they find equal inspiration and perspective in God’s world? It’s been a gift to me, and I know it would be for others.
Just like we don’t know the stories behind the video unless they’re shared with us, we don’t know each other’s stories unless we share them. So how about we begin to share a weekly eNews story from our own lives? Not a bio, but something notable that formed us. Imagine how enriched our common life will be by knowing the stories beyond the faces! Imagine the conversations on the patio! I believe God has put us together for a reason. So let’s stir up some stories, and share our remarkable journeys with each other. Who wants to go first? Let me know!
